As temperatures cool you can head inland to explore the stunning countryside. There are some wonderful hiking routes around Mijas, Marbella and Estepona. The most challenging is to climb Marbella’s highest mountain, La Concha, to reach the summit 1,200 meters above sea level.  The round trip takes around six hours and starts from the Refugio de Juanar just above Marbella and there are amazing views from the top. If that sounds a bit too much like hard work, try canyoning, where you’ll climb, jump and swim along rivers and through stunning valleys. You will be equipped with a wetsuit, helmet and harness if your route includes abseiling and guided through the route, it’s a really exhilarating way to see the area. For those of you who prefer to keep their feet dry, there are miles and miles of great paths through forested areas which is ideal for mountain biking, horse trekking or to explore on four wheels in a buggy or quad bike.
