Marbella is certainly one of the most important locations in Costa del Sol. Its location, weather, gastronomy, culture, history and amazing golf clubs are almost as perfect at paradise itself. A great group of tourists from all over the world come to Marbella to enjoy this fantastic place for playing golf. The courses you find here are becoming more and more popular and prestigious in other European countries.

Golf courses have all kind of different conditions, style, design and structure. They can be large, small, plain, steep, depending on the architectural features related to its particular design. It is quite an interesting topic, as well as remarkable, considering that not every golf player knows the different sorts of golf courses there are. In this occasion we would like to highlight the importance of Los Naranjos in consolidating a golf tradition in Marbella.

Los Naranjos was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., one of the most prestigious and popular golf courses architects in history. He developed more than 500 golf projects, 45 in the USA and 35 in other countries, among others.

Each one of the golf courses designed by such a prestigious architect, makes the landscape look perfect, original and creative. Aspects that establish the settings, difficulties and locations of bunkers, which are not excessively deep, with water, lakes and other incredible obstacles becoming the perfect icon of perfection in golf course design. That’s why this club is available for all levels of players, although certain level of strategy is recommended for optimized results when playing at this golf course.

The name of this golf club comes from the 70 hectares plot where it was built, with a rolling and undulating surface and a river crossing an orange field. This golf course was designed with classic details, long and wide fairways and greens, perfect to celebrate international tournaments.

The golf club is located near other two great golf clubs: Aloha and Las Brisas, in an area known as “Golf Valley”. It’s prices in low season are 146€ two green fees, including buggy and in high season one green fee for 105€ plus buggy 18 for 40€. It is a relatively flat route although the first holes and the final one have very interesting uneven slopes.

Tips for enjoying your time at Los Naranjos

In order to play at Los Naranjos you should follow the traditional dress code where shirts and blouses should have a collar, shirts for men should also have sleeves. Shirtless dressing and track suits, t-shirts, beach clothes or jeans are not allowed on the course or in the clubhouse facilities. Bermudas are allowed everywhere and only golf shoes with soft spikes are allowed for practice.

When playing, remember to show respect towards your golf mates in the course and keep a low tone of vice and gestures while in the field. Smartphones should be switched off to not to disturb the other players. We don’t want to see you leave the course for inappropriate behavior.

The average time for the 18 round is 4 hours 10 minutes. If the pace is slower they will ask you to pick up the ball and continue the game. If you have any trouble during the practice we recommend you let the other teams go through and ask for help when required in order to not to waste your time or the other’s players time during their practice.

The course undergoes annual repair and maintenance that does not interfere with the golfers visits. The course is then kept in great condition, the greens are quick but receptive, and if you decide to take buggies they have installed the latest GPS devices. The facilities are hosted by very helpful staff and it always has a very friendly atmosphere.

Today, Los Naranjos Golf Club is a reference for the golf practitioners and many events have been hosted here for professional and amateur players: Ladies Open Marbella in 1988, which belongs to the Ladies European Tour, the PGA Spanish Championship in 1989 with José Rivero and Severiano Ballesteros, as well as the European Senior Amateur Championship, the Spanish Junior Championship or the Spanish LPGA Championship.
