Finca Cortesin is Cabell Robinson designed 18 hole course which opened in 2007 and has been making a name for itself over the last decade. Located in Casares, between Estepona and Sotogrande, Finca Cortesin is a difficult championship course which has hosted the Volvo World Match Play and which was rated as one of Spain’s best golf courses by Golf Digest and is ranked 5th in Spain and 25th in Europe by Top100GolfCourses.com. CostadelSolGolf.com puts it in their top 3 Costa del Sol golf courses for a “sophisticated golfing challenge” and “good mix of quality and service”.
Finca Cortesin is known to be a very demanding course. It has one of Europe’s longest layouts which follows the contours of a large valley, leading to significant slopes on the fairway and elevation changes. There are more than 100 bunkers, plus difficult first cut rough and true rough and water hazards, so this is definitely a challenge. Top100GolfCourses.com highlights the 3rd, 10thand 11th holes as particularly good, picking the par four 13th hole as their favourite, although commenting that there are so many great holes that it’s hard to pick.
This is a 5* golf experience with complimentary buggies, range balls and trollies, fruit and cold water service on the course all contributing to a wonderful round. Players highlight the excellent facilities and customer service, combined with a relaxed atmosphere which makes everyone feel welcome. However, the prices reflect the experience, with green fees costing 280€ in the high season and 245€ in the low season.
