Malaga Airport is also involved in testing this pioneering technology, which could be taking passengers as early as 2026. Plans are afoot to create landing strips for these vehicles in strategic locations to make it even easier to arrive where you want to be and costs could be as low as €100 per person.

[post_content] => Do you think of Marbella only as a summer holiday destination? Think again! Autumn is one of the best times to visit Marbella, as the weather is glorious, the place is still buzzing, yet the crowds have gone, so you don’t have to fight for a parking space or a table at the best restaurants.
A visit to Marbella in autumn, allows you to discover another side to Marbella, and in this article, we’re giving you insiders’ tips on how to enjoy autumn in Marbella like a local!
10 Reasons to Visit Marbella this autumn
The weather
This might sound strange, as clearly the weather in Marbella in autumn is cooler than in the summer. However, it’s a glorious time of year in our opinion. You can expect mainly bright sunny days and clear skies, with September seeing highs of 28⁰C and lows of 19⁰C and just one day of rain in the month. It cools slightly in October with highs of 24⁰C and lows of 15⁰C, but those are very comfortable temperatures to enjoy lots of activities and explore, without breaking a sweat. Plus, you can still enjoy sunny days on the beach or dine al fresco!
The restaurant experience
Now the food in Spain is always fabulous and we’re blessed with some wonderful restaurants in Marbella. But the advantage of having a gastronomic getaway in autumn, rather than summer, is that it’s easy to get a table. Plus, because it’s less crowded, the service is much better. There is still a buzz in the tapas bars, but it’s so much easier to cruise from one place to the other sampling dishes in each in the autumn, because you’re not going to struggle to get a table. There’s even a tapas event going on in nearby Mijas Costa, from the 19th of October to the 30th of November if you fancy a foodie day trip.
The perfect adult only getaway
If you’re a couple, or a group of adults traveling to Marbella, autumn is a great time to travel, when the kids are in school and families aren’t tending to travel. This time of year, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of traveling without too many kids around. Just be sure to avoid the Autumn half term – 28th of October to the 1st of November.
Sports
Marbella has amazing sports facilities, and it’s great to combine a holiday with practicing your favorite sports, but summer is just too hot. Autumn is perfect for a round of golf, a game of padel tennis, or your sport of choice.
Art
The art scene on the Costa del Sol is going from strength to strength, and the art galleries in Malaga are a real treat. We recommend visiting these amazing galleries during the autumn. You can take your time and view these masterpieces without the crowds. There’s even a chance to enjoy music at the Picasso Museum in Malaga by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga on the 17th of September and the 1st of October, as part of the Chamber Music Series.
Top tip - Visit Malaga on a Sunday, as many of the art galleries and museums have free entry!
Flamenco
Many people associate flamenco with the summer ferias, but flamenco is something that you can enjoy year round, in places like Tablao Flamenco in Marbella Old Town. There is also a feria where you can enjoy flamenco and experience the passion and fun of Spanish culture in October. You’ll have to head to Fuengirola to see it, but it is definitely worth the trip. In 2024, the dates are the 6th to the 12th of October.
For the ultimate flamenco experience this autumn, head to the home of flamenco, Seville, to enjoy the Bienal flamenco festival, between the 11th of September and the 5th of October. Sevilla is under 3 hours’ drive from Marbella and an absolute must if you love flamenco.
Explore the great outdoors
We are blessed with some amazing countryside, just inland from Marbella, and hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and canyoning is a fantastic thing to do during autumn in Marbella. The temperatures are cool enough for you to really take on a challenge, like hiking La Concha – Marbella’s most famous mountain.
Events
There are some great events happening in Marbella over the autumn. You can join hundreds of walkers exploring Marbella on foot as part of the Marbella 4 Days Walking event from the 3rd to the 6th of October. There are 10-, 20- and 30-kilometer routes and you can join for just one day, or take part in all four.
You can also enjoy stand up comedy in English in Estepona on Wednesday 18th of October, with Stand Up Comedy Spain. You can see the shows going on during your trip.
On the 26th of October there’s an organized hike of the beautiful pine forest in Estepona’s Sierra Bermeja natural park by Senderismo Seville. It’s a Spanish company, but it’s easy to follow along, even if you don’t speak the language.
Ironman 70.3 comes to Marbella on October 27th 2024 and you can watch the amazing athletes complete this challenging triathlon, which starts and finishes in beautiful Puerto Banus.
Easy driving
We love it when the summer crowds disappear and the roads clear! It makes exploring the Costa del Sol, getting around, or visiting other places in Andalucia so much easier.
Cheaper flights and accommodation
When the kids are back to school and the cooler weather rolls in, it’s off-peak season and this means that flights are cheaper and holiday rentals and hotels lower their prices. That makes traveling to Marbella in autumn a great choice!
What to do in Marbella in autumn?
There’s so much to enjoy in Marbella in autumn, here are just a few recommendations -
Walk from Marbella to Puerto Banus along the seafront promenade.
Where to stay in Marbella in autumn?
It’s important when you choose your holiday rental for an autumn, rather than summer break, that you make sure that the property fits the bill. As there are cooler nights and shorter days, you need to make sure that the property is warm and comfortable, with sunny terraces to soak up the rays. Also, think about the location to ensure you make the most of your holiday.
Autumn is a great time of year for golf. So, if you are on a golf holiday, choose a vacation rental in an area with good access to multiple courses and close enough to all the amenities to give you flexibility if you just want to walk to get a bite to eat or go to the shops. You can view properties rentals in Nueva Andalucia, the golfer’s paradise, which would be perfect for an autumn golf getaway.

Tu mascota (perro, gato o hurón) debe:

We have a large selection of great holiday rental properties in Costa del Sol, Puerto Banus and Marbella which you can browse on our website. As well as great vacation rentals, we also offer holiday extras such as golf club hire, car hire, excursions and more, plus you can get discounted green fees via our website.
We are here to make your holiday unforgettable, so if there’s something you need, please don’t hesitate to ask. We hope to see you in Marbella this autumn!

Tu mascota (perro, gato o hurón) debe:
