Private boat trip from Puerto Banús along the Costa del Sol
The glamourous port of Puerto Banus is a wonderful place to pick up a boat and explore the Costa del Sol. This marina is known for superyachts and designer shopping and is stunning.
It is also well located to be able to explore along the coast, in either direction, towards Elviria or towards Sotogrande. You can even stop off at one of the amazing beach clubs like Nikki Beach and join the party, or dine in one of the marinas.
There are many companies who run private boat trips from Puerto Banus, here are three to help you find the perfect option for you.
Nautica Marbella offer 4- and 8-hour private boat trips, leaving from Puerto Banus. Their trips include a private boat with captain, fuel, water, soft drinks, cava and a light snack. The 4-hour route will take you to Nikki Beach in Elviria, let you swim and enjoy lunch just off this famous beach club and then return.
The 8-hour option takes you to the beautiful Sotogrande port, with lunch in a restaurant there and then back to Puerto Banus.
Marbella Boat Charter offer motor boats, sailing yachts, fishing boats and a wide range of activities and options to enjoy a day on the waves. Have the luxury of a beautiful boat, an experienced skipper, drinks, snacks and of course fuel, for 2, 4 or 8 hours. Alquiler Veleros Marbella offers private and group sunset sailing trips from Puerto Banus. It’s a 2-hour trip, which offers wine, cava, soft drinks and snacks, plus a beautiful place to enjoy the setting of the sun, with views of Marbella, La Concha mountain and sometimes even over to Africa. They offer group and private sunset sailing experiences.

Sail in Spain specialize in private sunset sailing experiences. They offer a 2-hour sunset tour from Puerto Banus, exploring the Golden Mile, with a bottle of cava to toast at sunset and further drinks and snacks on board. You can choose to stop and take a dip in the sea as the sun goes down, or stay drink and enjoy it with a drink in hand. Because it’s a private trip, they can fit around you!

Another option if you’re more price sensitive is to take the final Fly Blue ferry between Banus and Marbella and watch the sunset for just €10 for adults and €6 for kids. It’s a 30-minute trip and there are places to sunbathe, a bar, seating and relaxation areas. They run all day from 11am and the last boat leaves Marbella at 19.00 and Banus at 19.30.
Dolphin watching
Thanks to the proximity of the Gibraltar Straits and the meeting of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, the Costa del Sol has a rich marine life, including whales and dolphins. You can often see pods of dolphins from the shore, but there’s nothing better than being up close and personal with them from a boat. These are sociable creatures who love to play in the waves that the boats create and seeing them swimming alongside you, playing, jumping and showing-off is a spectacular experience.

Dolphins Marbella offer group dolphin watching tours on their 37-foot Elan yacht. Their trips are just under three hours long, with guides who know the best spots to find dolphins and can tell you all about it. They have soft drinks, snacks and fruit on board, as well as offering guests use of snorkeling equipment and a paddle surf board to get into the water and enjoy the spectacular wildlife. LOVIT Charter also offer a 2 hour dolphin watching tour, where they teach guests about these beautiful creatures and see them in their natural habitat. They also give you the opportunity to swim and snorkel and snacks and drinks are included.

It’s amazing that Marbella is on the edge of the continent of Europe and on clear days you can see the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and over into Africa. This proximity means that you can easily take a boat from the Costa del Sol over to Tangier and have a day in this bustling and exciting port town.
There are private and group tours, or you can simply go it solo and take the ferry and explore alone.
The FRS ferry from Algeciras takes one and a half hours to get to Tangiers and you can go as a foot passenger, or take your car. It costs €21.50 each way. The same company also offers routes from Tarifa to Tangiers and from Algeciras to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The ferry company also offer excursions from Tarifa, which include ferry, transfers, guided tour, lunch and free time to explore, from under €80 per person.
There are also a host of companies offering private tours, such as Tour Travel & More, who offer a private tour guide and chauffeur to pick you up from your vacation rental in Marbella and drive you to the ferry port, tour you to the key areas of Tangier, stopping off at viewpoints, a visit to the caves of Hercules and even have a 15 minute camel ride, before exploring the kasbah, the medina and more.
Gibraltar boat tour
The richest marine life can be found off Gibraltar, so it’s worth the short drive from Marbella to Gibraltar to take to the sea. There are lots of companies in Gibraltar offering dolphin and whale watching tours, and while you can never guarantee seeing them, chances are high in this part of the world.
Dolphin Adventure Gibraltar have a 99% success rate in spotting dolphins over the last 20 years, so you know you’re in good hands! They also offer a free trip if you don’t get to see dolphins, and comfortable boats, so you can fully enjoy the experience. Their team are knowledgeable and passionate about the animals and marine conservation and they also offer packs which includes going up to the top of the Rock in the cable car.

Hit the beach
The number one plan for most tourists is to head to the beach and Marbella is blessed with 24 of them! Whether you grab a bucket and spade and a picnic, or book a sunbed in a fantastic beach club, no summer holiday in Marbella would be complete without a trip to the beach!

Get active with watersports
Marbella is blessed to be on the Mediterranean Sea and it’s not just for swimming in, or cooling off - there are loads of great activities to enjoy. We’d recommend hiring a paddle board or kayak to take to the waves, it’s relaxing, fun and quite a workout too. Choose carefully, depending on the weather. Paddle surfing is most enjoyable when it’s very calm and the water is really still, whereas you can kayak even if there’s a little wind and a few waves. If that sounds like a bit too much like hard work on your relaxing holiday, we’d recommend a private yacht charter. Take to the sea in a beautiful sailing or motor boat for a cruise, or try your hand at some sea fishing. You’re sure to have a wonderful day!
If watersports are your thing and you don’t mind going a little further afield, we’re just an hour away from the surfing mecca of Tarifa. Famous for its windy conditions, it’s a paradise for people who want to try surfing, windsurfing or kite surfing. Plus, its white sand beaches and cool vibe are really special.
Party all night long
Marbella’s nightlife is legendary and summer is where the action reaches its peak. Most bars and clubs will put on special nights where you can listen to great music, sip cool drinks and dance the night away. There are also lots of great concerts and dance music events happening at many stadiums and event venues including the Marbella Arena and Starlite. As well as bars and clubs, Marbella and Andalucía as a whole is famous for its “Feria” culture. These are massive parties where all the town turns out in their flamenco finery to eat, drink and be merry during the summer months. Each town and village in Andalucia has their own feria, in honor of their patron saint. In Marbella, they are celebrating their feria from the 5th to the 11th of June and it’s a wonderful time to be here.
Other famous fairs within a day trip of Marbella are the Jerez Horse Fair in May and the Seville Fair in April, so if you’re visiting in Spring, you can still enjoy the fun.
Have a gastronomic adventure
Andalucia is famous world over for its delicious food and tapas culture. Going from restaurant to restaurant and trying small plates of traditional tapas is a real joy, especially on warm summer nights in Marbella. But that’s not all! Marbella’s food scene is really exciting, with international cuisines from around the world, fine dining restaurants and even Michelin starred restaurants on offer. Benalmadena is also a favorite family destination because of its cable car, aquarium and the aquatic theme park of Selwo Marina.
Day Trips to Malaga for the amazing art and culture and city buzz are highly recommended. Wine tasting and bodega visits in Ronda and seeing the famous gorge are also fantastic summer holiday experiences.

There’s a beautiful seafront promenade just a few minutes’ walk from the main road, with some fantastic beachside restaurants and bars. On the other side of the road are some of the oldest residential developments in Marbella, with lush gardens, large villas and an exclusive feel. This is a great place to stay if you want to be within easy reach of both Marbella and Puerto Banus and want everything on your doorstep.
Puerto Banus – This exclusive marina, lined with designer shops and filled with superyachts and supercars is the playground of the rich and famous. A visit to Puerto Banus to admire all this bling and extravagance is a must, and if you love the finer things in life, or want to party the night away, then this makes a great base for a holiday. We have a wide range of holiday rentals in Puerto Banus, including apartments right on the waterfront in the port itself, others on the best beaches, and others in the area with the best shopping and nightlife. You don’t need a car if you’re based in Puerto Banus, as you can easily walk to the many shops, bars and restaurants and you can even stroll to nearby San Pedro to see a different side of the area. Marbella can also be reached on foot, or via the catamaran ferry that goes between the two ports every hour.
Nueva Andalucia – The area of Nueva Andalucia is behind Puerto Banus and very popular with international residents and holidaymakers because of its fantastic golf courses, modern properties, shops, bars and restaurants. It is quiet, yet has a lot of options within easy reach, and Puerto Banus is just a short cab journey away. Golfers love it, for its variety of courses in a very small area and it has a relaxed, welcoming feel. There’s a small shopping centre and plenty of bars and restaurants in the different areas. San Pedro de Alcantara – To the west of Puerto Banus is the pretty and charming town of San Pedro, which has its own unique identity. San Pedro has held onto its Spanish character and developed a great restaurant and bar scene, with buzzing tapas bars alongside international hot spots. It has a long seafront promenade connecting it to Banus and Marbella, but it is less developed and quieter than its glamourous and better-known neighbours. Back from the seafront is a boulevard created with families in mind. It boasts many playgrounds, cafes and bars and has the perfect surface for riding your bike or roller skating. Further back from the sea you will discover the pretty town itself, with pedestrianised streets, squares and lots of great bars and restaurants. There’s also a large weekly market where you can pick up everything from fruit and veg to clothes and homeware.
Guadalmina – Guadalmina is well located close to San Pedro and within easy reach of Puerto Banus and Marbella to the East and Estepona to the West. It has a great golf course, a padel club and a beautiful stretch of beach. It also boasts a bustling shopping centre with a big supermarket, several banks, lots of restaurants and bars and even a cooking school. It is an elegant residential area, where you can find peace and tranquillity, within a short drive of everything that Marbella has to offer.
Bahia de Marbella – Leaving Marbella and driving past the popular La Cañada shopping centre towards Fuengirola you will arrive in the popular area of Bahia de Marbella in around five minutes. This pretty residential area has a beautiful beach, a number of great restaurants and even a thriving rugby club. If you’re looking for peace, easy parking and a lovely beach area, this is a good choice for you. We’d recommend you hire a car if you’re staying in a holiday rental here, to make the most of the area and be able to explore nearby Marbella and Puerto Banus.
Rio Real – Just a few minutes’ drive to the east of Marbella is the peaceful, pretty area of Río Real. It boasts a fantastic golf course and a number of very popular beach resturants, including the fantastic Trocadero Arena. The beaches in this area are fantastic and there are watersports on offer nearby. This area is a good choice for holidaymakers looking for a combination of golf, beaches and a quiet getaway, yet still within easy reach of Marbella and all its charms.
