The hot and sunny weather
It’s called the Costa del Sol for very good reason. You can expect average temperatures of between 28⁰C and 31⁰C during the day, and balmy evenings, with lows of 18⁰C. Marbella is blessed with a microclimate, which means temperatures are less extreme compared to the rest of the coast, so that’s another reason to choose Marbella!
The beautiful beaches and warm waters of the Mediterranean on your doorstep
If you love beaches, you’ll be spoilt for choice with 27.9km of beautiful beaches in Marbella, and many more in the surrounding areas. A trip to the beach is a highlight of any summer holiday in Marbella.
The gourmet delights of the Marbella restaurant scene and eating al fresco
With delicious Spanish food, plus international cuisine and fine dining restaurants all available in Marbella, you’ll find something to suit every taste. Long lunches, tapas tours and late dinners are a real highlight of summers in Marbella.
The packed calendar of events, activities and concerts

The waterparks and watersports
Having fun in the water is something that we love in the summer in Marbella. You’ll find opportunities to rent paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis and more, plus inflatable activities just off shore that are a lot of fun. A short drive from Marbella, in Fuengirola, is the great water park Aqua Mijas, which is definitely worth the trip.
The great family activities within easy reach.
Marbella is a great family destination, where kids are welcome and doted on by the locals. As well as the beaches and pools, which offer hours of entertainment, there are lots of playgrounds and parks to enjoy. Just a short drive outside of Marbella you’ll find zoos, water parks, safari parks and more, to keep the whole family entertained. Check out our guide to Marbella with kids.
Stunning scenery and countryside to explore
You may not think of Marbella as a natural paradise, but it’s actually a very green town and just outside of the town itself you will find some beautiful countryside and the opportunity for hiking and adventure activities.
The sunsets
Summer offers the most incredible sunsets, where the sky turns into a work of art. Sipping a cocktail while the sun goes down is something to remember! Here are our recommendations on the best places to watch the sunset in Marbella.
Marbella’s Old Town takes you back in time, and the music, dance and traditions of old live on during the fiesta season. There are also great art galleries and museums in Marbella itself and an incredible art scene in Malaga, so history buffs and culture vultures will be happy.
Amazing villas and apartments to rent
We’ve got a fantastic selection of Marbella holiday homes, which are the perfect base for your next summer holiday in Marbella. Choose from beachfront properties, villas with pools, party pads and more. Whatever you’re looking for, we’ve got something to suit you!

Hit the beach
The number one plan for most tourists is to head to the beach and Marbella is blessed with 24 of them! Whether you grab a bucket and spade and a picnic, or book a sunbed in a fantastic beach club, no summer holiday in Marbella would be complete without a trip to the beach!
Some of our favorites are the central bay of El Faro beach, El Ancón Beach on the Golden Mile, Guadalmina Beach and Nueva Andalucía Beach. Check out our guide to the best beaches in Marbella to find out more.

We’d recommend hiring a paddle board or kayak to take to the waves, it’s relaxing, fun and quite a workout too. Choose carefully, depending on the weather. Paddle surfing is most enjoyable when it’s very calm and the water is really still, whereas you can kayak even if there’s a little wind and a few waves. Here’s some information for you on kayaking in Marbella.
If that sounds like a bit too much like hard work on your relaxing holiday, we’d recommend a private yacht charter. Take to the sea in a beautiful sailing or motor boat for a cruise, or try your hand at some sea fishing. You’re sure to have a wonderful day!
If watersports are your thing and you don’t mind going a little further afield, we’re just an hour away from the surfing mecca of Tarifa. Most bars and clubs will put on special nights where you can listen to great music, sip cool drinks and dance the night away. There are also lots of great concerts and dance music events happening at many stadiums and event venues including the Marbella Arena and Starlite. Some of the biggest stars are coming over to perform in Marbella in summer 2024. Make sure you check out what’s on during your next Marbella holiday to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Here are a few of our favorite clubs and bars in Marbella to help you choose where to go this summer.
As well as bars and clubs, Marbella and Andalucía as a whole is famous for its “Feria” culture. These are massive parties where all the town turns out in their flamenco finery to eat, drink and be merry during the summer months. Each town and village in Andalucia has their own feria, in honor of their patron saint. In Marbella, they are celebrating their feria from the 5th to the 11th of June and it’s a wonderful time to be here.
Other famous fairs within a day trip of Marbella are the Jerez Horse Fair in May and the Seville Fair in April, so if you’re visiting in Spring, you can still enjoy the fun.
Have a gastronomic adventure
Andalucia is famous world over for its delicious food and tapas culture. Going from restaurant to restaurant and trying small plates of traditional tapas is a real joy, especially on warm summer nights in Marbella. But that’s not all! Marbella’s food scene is really exciting, with international cuisines from around the world, fine dining restaurants and even Michelin starred restaurants on offer. It’s a fantastic place to visit if you love to dine out and we’ve put together a guide to some of our favorite restaurants in Marbella to help you choose.
Be Pampered and Relax
If your biggest priority is relaxation and disconnecting from the stresses of daily life, then Marbella is a great place to be. Relaxing by the pool of your holiday rental, strolling down the promenade, or watching the sun go down as the waves lap the shore, will bring you a real sense of calm and tranquility. [post_content] => Spring has most definitely sprung here in Marbella! After some much needed rain, the flowers are blooming, the sun is shining and we’re loving life here right now. In this article, we’ll give you the low down on Marbella in Spring and let you know when to come and what to do during your stay. Check out our website, to find your perfect vacation rental in Marbella for your next visit.
Why visit Marbella in Spring
Marbella’s Spring season starts with a bang, with the Easter parades and activities. This is when the seasonal bars, restaurants and beach clubs reopen, more events take place and the atmosphere (and weather) starts hotting up.
In our opinion, Spring is a great time to visit Marbella, especially if you want to get active, visit monuments and museums and get to know the place on foot. Right now, the weather is perfect for getting out and about, with bright sunshine, blue skies, but cooler temperatures. There’s plenty to do, but without the crowds, so get on over here and make the most of Marbella in Spring!
Marbella weather in Spring
The weather steadily starts to warm up in April, with warm days and cool nights. You can expect highs of 21⁰ and lows of 11⁰. In May, this increases to highs of 24⁰ and lows of 14⁰. There are usually 4 days of rain in April and 3 days of rain in May, but you would usually find a few showers, rather than heavy and persistent rain at this time of the year.
What these stats don’t tell you, is that during the day, when you’re in the sun, it’s a lovely warm temperature and you’ll need some sun cream and probably a hat for exploring Marbella. People are on the beach already, especially in sheltered spots and shorts and t-shirts are perfect for the day.
The evenings are cooler, so smart visitors will head out for a meal in trousers and with a jacket or jumper as the night draws in. It’s a time for layers, to make sure that you’re comfortable, whether you’re in the shade, or the sun, whether it’s windy or not.
The nights are really comfortable for sleeping, without the need for aircon, so if you don’t like to get a sweat on, then this is the perfect time of year for you!
7 Things to do in Marbella in Spring
Think active pursuits to make the most of Spring in Marbella and have a few indoor activities in the plan, in case you do catch a rare rain shower or two. Here are our favorite things to do in Marbella in Spring.
Golf
Spring and Autumn are the high seasons for golf in Marbella. The temperatures are just perfect at this time of year and the restaurants and bars aren’t too busy to accommodate groups of golfers. Marbella is a great place to stay if you’re on a golfing holiday, as there are over 70 courses within easy reach, and there’s fantastic bars, restaurants and nightlife on your doorstep, for when you’re not playing. Check out our top 10 Marbella golf courses and let us know if we can help you sort out accommodation for your golf group.
Ride a horse
Andalucia is famous around the world for its beautiful horses, and while Seville and Jerez are best known for being equestrian centers, Marbella actually has some fantastic options for keen horse riders, and those who are just getting started. There are a number of equestrian centers and riding schools, and companies which organize treks in different parts of the Costa del Sol. Exploring the beautiful countryside around Marbella on horseback is a very special experience. Find out more about horse riding in Marbella on our website.
Shop in Puerto Banús
Retail therapy and holidays go hand in hand, and it’s much more comfortable to shop ‘til you drop during Spring than in Summer. In Puerto Banús, there are a wide range of shops to choose from, depending on your style and budget. In the Port itself, you’ll find a large collection of designer boutiques and luxury shopping experiences. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the El Corte Ingles department store, which has a fantastic range of designer and own brand clothes, accessories, toys, games, electronics, homeware and more. There is also a small shopping mall in Puerto Banús and some high street stores to choose from. Whatever your budget, Marbella and Puerto Banús offers a great shopping experience for your next holiday. Check out our guide to shopping in Marbella
Visit a spa
If you’re looking for some R&R on your next holiday in Marbella, we’d recommend a trip to one of the great spas we have in our area. These are peaceful, tranquil havens, where you can relax and be pampered. They offer beauty and wellness treatments such as facials and massages. Many also have thermal circuits and hydrotherapy pools, which you can visit for a few hours, at a very reasonable price. These include things like saunas, steam rooms, hammams, pools with massage jets, plunge pools and relaxation rooms. If there’s any rain forecast during your stay, an afternoon in the spa is a perfect choice! Here is our guide to the best spas in Marbella
Sail in the Mediterranean
Take to the sea this Spring in Marbella! We have the Mediterranean Sea on our doorstep and there’s lots of opportunities to enjoy it to the full. A few highlights include surfing and paddle surfing, kayaking and sea fishing. You can also take the Fly Blue catamaran ferry between Marbella and Puerto Banus, for a boat trip and a great way to get between the two!
For the ultimate experience, we’d recommend a private charter of a beautiful yacht or powerboat. You will be able to have the whole boat to yourself, and a skipper and crew to look after you. They will also provide fishing equipment and refreshments, and food can be organized to make it even more special. We can organize a Marbella boat rental for you. Check out our website, or contact us to find out more.
Enjoy the gastronomy
Marbella is a paradise for foodies, with a massive range of fantastic restaurants and gastronomic experiences to enjoy. There are some fantastic Spanish restaurants and tapas bars, as well as food markets where you can pick up some local delicacies to cook in your holiday rental. There’s also a wide range of international restaurants, so you can enjoy cuisine from all around the world on your next holiday. Music and culture
There’s plenty going on in and around Marbella in the Spring, with many concerts, flamenco performances and events taking place up and down the coast. There’s also some fantastic art galleries on the Costa del Sol, where you can get your fix of culture during your next visit. When you’re planning your visit, take a look at the What’s On section of the Sur in English website and the Marbella Tourist Office’s event calendar is also a good one to check. We also recommend popping into your nearest Tourist Office when you arrive to find out what’s going on, as it can sometimes be hard to find things online.

A Weekend In Marbella: three days full of luxury and charm
Marbella, located on Spain’s beautiful Costa del Sol, is a tourist destination that offers a perfect combination of glamour, history and natural beauty. With its sun-drenched beaches, rich culture, lively nightlife and exquisite cuisine, Marbella has become a dream location for those looking for an unforgettable weekend. In this article, we will tell you how you can organize your trip if you only have one weekend to get to know our beautiful city.
Friday: Exploring the Charm of the Old City
Start your first day in Marbella in the Old Town, also known as the Old Town. Its narrow, cobbled streets, as well as its beautiful squares, will transport you to bygone times. Do not miss the Plaza de los Naranjos, the heart of the Old City, where you can enjoy a delicious coffee while you marvel at the typical Andalusian architecture.
From there, head to the Iglesia de la Encarnación, an architectural jewel from the 16th century, an emblematic symbol of Marbella and an essential stop for those wishing to explore the city’s historical heritage. Its construction began in 1618 on the remains of a Moorish mosque and was completed in 1695. This Renaissance and Baroque-style church blends architectural elements from different eras, making it a fascinating structure. One of the highlights of the Iglesia de la Encarnación is its bell tower, which rises above the Marbella skyline. Known as the Clock Tower, this imposing structure offers a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Climbing its steps is worth it to take in the spectacular views and capture memorable photos.
When you finish visiting the Iglesia de la Encarnación, take the opportunity to explore the picturesque shopping streets, where you will find a wide variety of fashion stores and exclusive boutiques.
Continue your way until you reach the old Arab walls and the Castle of Marbella, from where you will enjoy impressive panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the city.
The Moorish walls surround the old town of Marbella and date back to the 9th century when the region was under Muslim rule. These walls played a fundamental role in protecting the city and its population for centuries. As you enter the Old City, you will be able to appreciate sections of these walls that still stand, evoking a sense of grandeur and mystery.
In addition to its historical and architectural value, the old Arab Walls and the Castle of Marbella host exhibitions and cultural events. Concerts and theatre performances are sometimes staged at these venues, giving visitors the chance to further immerse themselves in the history and culture of Marbella.
In the afternoon, you can relax on one of the terraces of the charming bars and restaurants in the area, rest from your day of sightseeing and enjoy authentic Andalusian gastronomy.
Saturday: Fun on the Beaches and Puerto Banús
The second day is perfect to enjoy the sun and the sea on the beautiful beaches of Marbella. Start at the famous Playa de la Fontanilla, where you can relax on the fine sand and take a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. If you are looking for a quieter experience, Cabopino Beach is an excellent option, with its natural environment and less crowded.
At the end of the morning, you could have lunch in one of the renowned beach bars that are located on the best beaches in our city. Ordering fresh fish accompanied by a refreshing gazpacho would be a great idea to end a beach morning.
After enjoying the day at the beach, put on your best clothes and head to the luxurious Puerto Banús, known for its exclusive atmosphere and luxury yachts. Stroll around the port, admire the impressive ships and take the opportunity to do some shopping in the renowned designer boutiques. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the restaurants overlooking the port, and if you feel like nightlife, explore the bars and clubs in the area.
Sunday: Art and Nature
On your last day in Marbella, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in its cultural richness and natural beauty. Visit the Ralli Museum, a contemporary art museum that houses an impressive collection of works by Latin American and European artists.
Afterwards, head to Parque de la Alameda, a beautiful oasis of tranquillity in the heart of the city. Stroll through its lush gardens and relax on one of its benches while enjoying panoramic views of the sea.
To end your visit to Marbella, you cannot miss an excursion to the nearby Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. Here you can enjoy impressive mountainous landscapes, go hiking and connect with nature in its purest state.
Marbella offers a complete experience for those who want to enjoy the perfect combination of sun, beach and culture.
