[post_content] => Do you think of Marbella only as a summer holiday destination? Think again! Autumn is one of the best times to visit Marbella, as the weather is glorious, the place is still buzzing, yet the crowds have gone, so you don’t have to fight for a parking space or a table at the best restaurants.
A visit to Marbella in autumn, allows you to discover another side to Marbella, and in this article, we’re giving you insiders’ tips on how to enjoy autumn in Marbella like a local!
10 Reasons to Visit Marbella this autumn
The weather
This might sound strange, as clearly the weather in Marbella in autumn is cooler than in the summer. However, it’s a glorious time of year in our opinion. You can expect mainly bright sunny days and clear skies, with September seeing highs of 28⁰C and lows of 19⁰C and just one day of rain in the month. It cools slightly in October with highs of 24⁰C and lows of 15⁰C, but those are very comfortable temperatures to enjoy lots of activities and explore, without breaking a sweat. Plus, you can still enjoy sunny days on the beach or dine al fresco!
The restaurant experience
Now the food in Spain is always fabulous and we’re blessed with some wonderful restaurants in Marbella. But the advantage of having a gastronomic getaway in autumn, rather than summer, is that it’s easy to get a table. Plus, because it’s less crowded, the service is much better. There is still a buzz in the tapas bars, but it’s so much easier to cruise from one place to the other sampling dishes in each in the autumn, because you’re not going to struggle to get a table. There’s even a tapas event going on in nearby Mijas Costa, from the 19th of October to the 30th of November if you fancy a foodie day trip.
The perfect adult only getaway
If you’re a couple, or a group of adults traveling to Marbella, autumn is a great time to travel, when the kids are in school and families aren’t tending to travel. This time of year, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of traveling without too many kids around. Just be sure to avoid the Autumn half term – 28th of October to the 1st of November.
Sports
Marbella has amazing sports facilities, and it’s great to combine a holiday with practicing your favorite sports, but summer is just too hot. Autumn is perfect for a round of golf, a game of padel tennis, or your sport of choice.
Art
The art scene on the Costa del Sol is going from strength to strength, and the art galleries in Malaga are a real treat. We recommend visiting these amazing galleries during the autumn. You can take your time and view these masterpieces without the crowds. There’s even a chance to enjoy music at the Picasso Museum in Malaga by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga on the 17th of September and the 1st of October, as part of the Chamber Music Series.
Top tip - Visit Malaga on a Sunday, as many of the art galleries and museums have free entry!
Flamenco
Many people associate flamenco with the summer ferias, but flamenco is something that you can enjoy year round, in places like Tablao Flamenco in Marbella Old Town. There is also a feria where you can enjoy flamenco and experience the passion and fun of Spanish culture in October. You’ll have to head to Fuengirola to see it, but it is definitely worth the trip. In 2024, the dates are the 6th to the 12th of October.
For the ultimate flamenco experience this autumn, head to the home of flamenco, Seville, to enjoy the Bienal flamenco festival, between the 11th of September and the 5th of October. Sevilla is under 3 hours’ drive from Marbella and an absolute must if you love flamenco.
Explore the great outdoors
We are blessed with some amazing countryside, just inland from Marbella, and hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and canyoning is a fantastic thing to do during autumn in Marbella. The temperatures are cool enough for you to really take on a challenge, like hiking La Concha – Marbella’s most famous mountain.
Events
There are some great events happening in Marbella over the autumn. You can join hundreds of walkers exploring Marbella on foot as part of the Marbella 4 Days Walking event from the 3rd to the 6th of October. There are 10-, 20- and 30-kilometer routes and you can join for just one day, or take part in all four.
You can also enjoy stand up comedy in English in Estepona on Wednesday 18th of October, with Stand Up Comedy Spain. You can see the shows going on during your trip.
On the 26th of October there’s an organized hike of the beautiful pine forest in Estepona’s Sierra Bermeja natural park by Senderismo Seville. It’s a Spanish company, but it’s easy to follow along, even if you don’t speak the language.
Ironman 70.3 comes to Marbella on October 27th 2024 and you can watch the amazing athletes complete this challenging triathlon, which starts and finishes in beautiful Puerto Banus.
Easy driving
We love it when the summer crowds disappear and the roads clear! It makes exploring the Costa del Sol, getting around, or visiting other places in Andalucia so much easier.
Cheaper flights and accommodation
When the kids are back to school and the cooler weather rolls in, it’s off-peak season and this means that flights are cheaper and holiday rentals and hotels lower their prices. That makes traveling to Marbella in autumn a great choice!
What to do in Marbella in autumn?
There’s so much to enjoy in Marbella in autumn, here are just a few recommendations -
Walk from Marbella to Puerto Banus along the seafront promenade.
Where to stay in Marbella in autumn?
It’s important when you choose your holiday rental for an autumn, rather than summer break, that you make sure that the property fits the bill. As there are cooler nights and shorter days, you need to make sure that the property is warm and comfortable, with sunny terraces to soak up the rays. Also, think about the location to ensure you make the most of your holiday.
Autumn is a great time of year for golf. So, if you are on a golf holiday, choose a vacation rental in an area with good access to multiple courses and close enough to all the amenities to give you flexibility if you just want to walk to get a bite to eat or go to the shops. You can view properties rentals in Nueva Andalucia, the golfer’s paradise, which would be perfect for an autumn golf getaway.

Tu mascota (perro, gato o hurón) debe:

[post_content] => One of the most commonly requested services from holidaymakers staying in our vacation rentals in Marbella is to hire a private driver for their holiday. Having a luxury car with a chauffeur at your disposal means no need to hire a car, or worry about navigating or finding parking and that takes a lot of pressure off you.
Whether you want to have a private driver for your whole stay, so you can be spontaneous and always have someone on hand, or just book them for certain trips is up to you. We definitely recommend arranging airport transfers, so that you arrive at your holiday rental with no stress, and don’t have any concerns about your return for the airport. Private drivers are also great if you want to explore the area, or head out for a special evening and want to arrive in style.
In this article, we’ll be looking at why hiring a private driver is so popular and recommend some companies offering private drivers in luxury cars in Marbella. Please contact us if you want to discuss hiring a car or arranging an airport transfer as well, we can help you with this as part of our guest services.
Why hire a chauffeur service in Marbella?
There are 5 main reasons why a private driver is so popular as part of a holiday in Marbella –
No need to navigate around a new area and worry about getting lost – even with GPS and the new navigation technology, driving in a different country, a new car and often on the different side of the road can be stressful and following the GPS directions can be confusing. The concerns of whether you’re taking the right exit, or are in the correct lane, can really stress you out and take away from the fun of exploring the beautiful area of Marbella. If you have a private driver, there’s no worries, you can sit back and relax, enjoy the views and know that you have a local driver who will take you exactly where you need to go.
No difficulty with finding parking – Parking can be limited in Marbella, especially during the summer and it can add time and expense to any journey. With a private driver, you will arrive in style at the door of where you want to go and walk straight in, without paying for parking, or driving around for ages trying to find a free spot.
Enjoy a drink if you want to – Champagne and cocktails, or wine pairing with a special meal is part of a glamourous holiday in Marbella for many of us. However, we know that drinking and driving do not mix, so the designated driver can’t join in the fun. With a chauffeur service, you can leave the driving to the professionals and enjoy a drink or two if the mood takes you, with no worry.
Tour the surrounding countryside stress free – Marbella is located in a beautiful part of Spain and some of the most famous towns in Andalucia are within a short drive. With a private driver, you can decide where you want to visit and what you want to see and let them take care of getting you there. With Ronda, Granada, Seville, Jerez and Tarifa all within an easy drive for a day trip from Marbella, you are spoilt for choice. By choosing a chauffeur service, you can focus on the destination and the sightseeing, rather than the driving, and know your private driver will be waiting for you when you’re ready to go.
Get to and from the airport with your luggage and straight to your door – Trying to navigate the limited public transport options with your luggage, or hiring a car at the airport and trying to get yourself to your holiday rental adds stress and time to your journey. With an airport transfer from Malaga airport, your private driver will be waiting for you when you come out of the airport. They can help you with your luggage, drive you straight to your holiday rental and help you unload your luggage. It’s the closest to a stress-free journey as you can get, and the best start to a relaxing holiday in Marbella.
Chauffeur Services in Marbella for every occasion
Our course everyone is unique, but here are the most common situations when our holiday guests choose to have a chauffeur service –
To collect them from the airport and take them back at the end of their stay
To play golf and get to the course of their choice with all their gear
To go to dinner, or a special event in style

To go to the spa or hairdresser and be pampered and be collected when they’re relaxed and looking great

Marbella is well known around the world as a paradise and most people know about its beaches and where to sample the best cocktail as the sun goes down on those balmy summer evenings, but how about the rest of the year?
Anyone who says that Marbella is just a place to visit in the summer clearly hasn’t enjoyed its off peak delights. For those of us that live here all year round, we love the cooler and less crowded months where you can more easily experience the real Marbella and without having to share it with all the tourists. So in this post, we want to share the advantages of travelling to Marbella in the winter and how to make the most of those off-peak trips.
Marbella basks in 320 days of sunshine each year
Thanks to its privileged location under the protection of the Sierra Blanca mountains, Marbella enjoys a microclimate which gives it cooler summers and warmer winters and makes the temperature ideal all year round. The average temperatures during the winter are 18° during the day and it rarely dips beneath 10° even at night. As well as these mild temperatures, it gets an average of 320 days of sunshine per year, so it definitely deserves its place on the “Costa del Sol”.
This microclimate and sunny weather make it a lovely place to spend time over the winter and explains why so many Northern Europeans, Scandinavians and Brits spend their winters here. If you are planning a winter getaway to Marbella, here are our six favourite winter activities for you to try.
Stroll the seafront promenades without the crowds
One of the many pleasures of a holiday on the coast is a stroll along the seafront, and Marbella has a wonderful stretch of “paseo” for you to explore. Our favourite time to stroll is sunset, when you will have the paseo almost to yourself and can admire the beautiful views across the Mediterranean all the way to the Rif Mountains in Morocco. Nature certainly puts a show on for us at this time of year! There is a lovely walk between Puerto Banus and Marbella, where you’ll enjoy designer shops, beautiful beaches and a great choice of bars and restaurants to stop and rest weary feet, or admire the view.
Eat al fresco on your own terrace
Enjoying your lunch or dinner in the sunshine on your own terrace is hard to beat. Winter is the best time to eat outside, when the sun is not as strong, the air temperature is cooler and it’s much more comfortable to be out in the sun. Vacation Marbella’s properties have some incredible terraces for dining, relaxing and sunbathing and they are perfect all year round. Take a look at the terrace in this two bedroom apartment in Ventura Sea Breeze – there’s plenty of dining and sunbathing space and great views too. You will be spoilt for choice for outside space in this Marbella villa including a pretty courtyard, private garden with sunbathing area, first floor terrace and a rooftop deck with comfortable seating and panoramic sea views.
Shop til you drop and get the full attention of the sales staff
Marbella and Puerto Banus are shopping hot spots and definitely a big draw for our visitors. Travelling to this retail paradise in the winter allows you to visit all the shops at your leisure and enjoy the experience without the queues. Shop mid week and during the day and you’ll have the sales team at your disposal and the shops pretty much to yourself.
In Marbella we’d recommend a stroll around the independent boutiques in the Old Town. It’s great to explore the winding streets lined with flowers, discovering pretty plazas and stores selling everything from clothes to jewellery, art to ceramics and local delicacies. But if you love designer labels and international brands, a trip to Puerto Banus is a must. This famous port has all the big names in a very small area including Dior, Cartier, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and many more.
Play golf
Lovers of the beautiful game of golf will be in heaven in Marbella. The sheer number and quality of golf courses in this area is hard to believe and the sunny weather and blue skies provide the perfect conditions for a round. Autumn and winter is the best time of year to play golf here in Marbella, as it’s just the right temperature and the visibility is the best.
As golfers ourselves, we’ve made sure we have a wonderful selection of properties for a golf holiday. Staying in this Los Naranjos Townhouse, in the heart of the golf valley, you are just two kilometres from three fantastic courses – Los Naranjos, Aloha and Las Brisas.
Climb La Concha and enjoy the best views
A winter break is the perfect time to climb the La Concha mountain a truly iconic sight on the Marbella skyline. Leaving from the Refugio de Juana, you will hike 1,200 meters to the top of this impressive peak. Your reward is the most incredible views across Marbella and during the winter you have the best chance of seeing out all the way to the Atlas mountains in Africa – truly stunning. The hike takes around six hours in total, including the climb to the peak and the descent, and you need to be wearing suitable foot wear and take plenty of water, food and sun protection. Are you up to the challenge?
Horse ride on the beach
Many people dream of riding a horse along the soft sand of the beach, splashing through the waves. During the winter you can do just that here in Marbella. There are guides which offer two hour routes along the beaches of the Costa del Sol and keep you and the horses safe and happy throughout the ride.
If you want to start to learn to ride, Marbella is a great place to learn. We recommend the equestrian centre Arrocha Equitación, which offers lessons for different ages and levels. If you love horses, you can also visit the Hipodromo Costa del Sol in Mijas to see the horse racing
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the incredible activities to enjoy in Marbella over the winter season. We’re here to help you make the most of your visit, so please feel free to ask us for recommendations on what to do in Marbella and the Costa del Sol, the best restaurants or insiders’ advice on all aspects of life in Marbella.
If a winter holiday in Marbella sounds like your idea of heaven, then what are you waiting for? Check out the stunning holiday homes on our website, make your choice and start preparing for your winter sun getaway.

To tour Marbella or Andalucia
To go to the spa or hairdresser and be pampered and be collected when they’re relaxed and looking great
