Marbella has been growing in popularity as a destination to watch live music and each year world famous performers fly in to delight the crowds. Here are some highlights to look out for each year, acts and exact dates will change of course, but hopefully our list will make your research a lot easier!
Nerja Music and Dance Festival
There is an annual series of concerts and performances in June, set inside the breathtaking Nerja Caves. Nerja is an easy day trip from Marbella. If you want to find out more about this great area, check our Nerja Guide in Day Trips section.
The normally sleepy white village of Ojen, just 30 minutes from Marbella, transforms into an amazing music venue at the end of June or beginning of July as it hosts Ojeando. Summer Concerts at the Puente Romano Tennis Club
For many years, the Puente Romano Tennis Club has been playing host to some amazing acts for a series of summer concerts. The concerts are typically between June and August and the venue is fantastic to see your favourite stars up close and personal. Previous performers include Foreigner, George Benson, Michael Bolton, Nile Rodgers, Earth Wind & Fire and Seal. We have a wide selection of vacation rental properties on Marbella’s Golden Mile, very close to the Puente Romano, which would make a great base. Check them out here.

Gibraltar Music Festival
Gibraltar has played host to an amazing music festival for years and in 2017 MTV took it over to make it bigger and better than ever. This two-day music festival takes place at the beginning of September with fantastic international acts and a great atmosphere. Acts have included Stereophonics, Ne-Yo, Travis, Bryan Ferry, Jess Glynne, Duran Duran, Paloma Faith, Little Mix, Kings of Leon, Madness, Kaiser Chiefs, Craig David, Fat Boy Slim, Ricky Martin, and Tinie Tempah.
If you’d like to go to this festival, we’d recommend basing yourself on the western Costa del Sol. Estepona is a great place to stay, with a charming Spanish vibe and easy connections to Gibraltar, with a festival bus service running between Estepona and Gibraltar. Malaga Jazz Festival
Every November Malaga brings together the best jazz performers for five days of wonderful concerts and events at the Cervantes Theatre. Acts include Eliane Elias, Dave Holland Trio, Kenny Garrett, Bill Evans, Gino Paoli, Omar Sosa, Steve Coleman and Five Elements, Ron Carter and Medeski’s Mad Skillet. There are also free jazz sessions taking place around the city during the festival to bring jazz to the masses.
We have some great vacation rental properties in Torremolinos, a short train ride from Malaga, so you can be within easy reach of the big city without the hustle and bustle.
We hope you can enjoy some fabulous music as part of your next holiday. If your visit doesn’t coincide with any of these events, many bars and restaurants offer singers and bands for special events through the summer months. You will also find many places offering flamenco music and dancing and the ferias are full of music too. To find out about live music events, ask in your local tourist office, or read one of the English papers such as the Euroweekly News and Sur in English.
Please ask our Costa del Sol holiday experts if you have any questions about what you should do and where you should stay. We’re here to help you have an unforgettable holiday!
