There are many opportunities for wine tasting on the Costa del Sol. You can go to wine specialists D-Wine very close to Puerto Banus and join them for their wine tasting evenings, or try their special wine tasting boards where four wines will be paired with fine cheeses. Read our review of D-Wine.

You can visit the wine museum in Manilva, a region on the western Costa del Sol with beautiful vineyards, which specialise in sweet wines. They can give you a guided tour of the museum and you can sample the wonderful wines that they are making on the premises.

A great day trip from Marbella is to head to Jerez, the capital of sherry production in the region. A visit to one of the sherry factories is like entering into another world, including the vines, production areas and cellars, which are steeped in history and very beautiful. There are a huge variety to choose from including the big boys Gonzalez Byass and Pedro Domecq, or for very old, rare sherries and Spanish art, try the Bodegas Tradicion.

Malaga city is a foodie’s dream, with wonderful markets, wine producers and of course fabulous tapas bars. We have partnered with a great tour company to be able to offer a three hour Ham, Wine and Tapas Tour to Malaga where you will visit Malaga’s oldest bodega, eat delicious tapas paired with local wines and try the best Spanish ham. You can join a group, or we can arrange a private tour with transport from your vacation rental, just let us know what would suit you best.

Last but not least, you can do a full day tour to Ronda, exploring the beautiful town on foot with a walking tour led by an experienced guide. When you’ve soaked up the sights and history of Ronda, then head to one of the area’s best wineries for a tour around the vineyards, an explanation of the wine making process and of course a tasting of the wines. It is great to do this as a guided private tour as you don’t have to navigate the winding Ronda road, and you can enjoy the wines without worrying about drinking and driving. However, if you prefer to hire a car and do a wine tour yourself, check out our 5 Tips for doing a wine tour in Ronda on our blog.
