Mijas is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, it is a town that perfectly combines two well-differentiated parts, a deep mountain range and a long coastline. This peculiarity makes it have endless charms that make it one of the most attractive destinations in the province of Malaga.
Throughout its territory, we can find three important urban centres, each with its own peculiarities that range from deep-rooted traditions to innovation and modernity.
Its beaches proudly display nine "Q for Tourist Quality" flags and three Blue Flags, thanks to all the services they offer. The rest of its coastline has the ISO 14,001 Environmental Certification, thus guaranteeing the conservation of the natural values of its entire Coast.
Something that you cannot miss if you visit Mijas is to also get to know its seabed, which is home to great biodiversity, with European, African, Atlantic and Mediterranean species. The seabed of Calahonda was catalogued as a Place of Community Interest (LICES 6170030 Calahonda) in June 2006 to ensure the conservation of the habitat and the species that live in them, in an area of 1403.57 Ha. Its uniqueness consists in being at the limit of the area of the natural distribution of the habitat and that shelters virgin stretches where abundant vegetation flourishes, especially the Posidonia oceanica.
