Marbella and the Costa del Sol has a lot to offer film fans, with some big film festivals each year. The biggest is the Malaga Film Festival which is a major event for Spanish cinema and takes place in the spring, there is also a quite interesting one in Marbella which is more international. Malaga Film Festival – Every April for the last 20 years, the great and the good of Spanish film have got together in Malaga to reward the best films, actors and filmmakers with prizes. The stars take to the red carpet for glamourous events and they screen the most important Spanish film releases of the year. In 2018 there were over 200 screenings in the Cervantes Theatre, Albeniz cinema and Echegaray theatres with short films, documentaries, and feature films. Marbella International Film Festival – Held each year at the beginning of October, the Marbella International Film Festival is a great way to see foreign language films, shorts, and independent feature-length films. Screenings are held at the Cinema Goya in Puerto Banus and there are also workshops held at the H10 Andalucia Plaza Hotel each day. You can mingle with the stars and filmmakers on the red carpet with a VIP ticket, or simply go and enjoy the films, it’s a great event for film lovers. (Find out more)
