2. Hiking in Mijas
We recommend exploring the well marked hiking trails just behind Mijas. There are seven different colour-coded routes, ranging from an easy 1 hour walk to a very challenging 5 hour route. You can see the routes on the tourism website and if you don’t feel like doing it alone, you can sign up for the guided hiking routes that leave from the tourist office at 9.15 on Saturdays and Sundays. 3. Art and Culture in Mijas
Artists have flocked to Mijas for decades and there is a thriving artisan scene with many skilled artists and craftsmen making beautiful pieces and selling them in town. There are plenty of small galleries and specialist arts and crafts shops to visit and it is often possible to meet the artists and watch them at work. We also recommend a visit to the Contemporary Art Center where you can enjoy more than 400 pieces of contemporary art by the best artists in the world, including Picasso and Dalí. Admission costs €3 and is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

6. Chocolate in Mijas
Mijas Pueblo has the smallest chocolate factory in the world that you can visit and learn how to make your own chocolate too. This is a great family activity! They have one hour workshops where you can learn how to make six different types of chocolate and take them back to enjoy. They operate 7 days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and require a minimum of four people, the cost is €29.95 per person. Alternatively, you can take his 10-minute express workshop where you can learn how to shape and decorate three bars of your own chocolate. No reservations are necessary, and you only need two people to take these tours. They operate from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and cost €11.70 per person.
7. Beaches
Mijas has several beaches along its coast, where you can relax, sunbathe and enjoy the Mediterranean Sea. The beaches of Calahonda, La Cala de Mijas and El Faro are some of the popular options.
