A great day trip from Marbella is to head to Jerez, the capital of sherry production in the region. A visit to one of the sherry factories is like entering into another world, including the vines, production areas and cellars, which are steeped in history and very beautiful. There are a huge variety to choose from including the big boys Gonzalez Byass and Pedro Domecq, or for very old, rare sherries and Spanish art, try the Bodegas Tradicion.

Last but not least, you can do a full day tour to Ronda, exploring the beautiful town on foot with a walking tour led by an experienced guide. When you’ve soaked up the sights and history of Ronda, then head to one of the area’s best wineries for a tour around the vineyards, an explanation of the wine making process and of course a tasting of the wines. It is great to do this as a guided private tour as you don’t have to navigate the winding Ronda road, and you can enjoy the wines without worrying about drinking and driving. However, if you prefer to hire a car and do a wine tour yourself, check out our 5 Tips for doing a wine tour in Ronda on our blog.
