Marbella Golf and Country Club offers a 18 hole, 72 par course just a short drive from the jewel of the Costa del Sol – Marbella. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior in 1989, it makes the most of its hilly site to make for some spectacular shots across ravines and up and down the valley.
This is known as one of the best and most challenging golfing experiences on the Costa del Sol, with the first nine holes cut into the hillside, with a flatter back nine. The Top100GolfCourses.com praised the clever design “excellent bunkering, fabulous green complexes, well placed water hazards and marvellous scenic views … which makes for a heady golfing cocktail”. They highlight the 2nd hole and holes 7-15 as wonderful holes, which are “great examples of the old master architect at his best.”
Marbella Golf and Country Club has high quality greens and good fairways yet is a challenge for even good golfers, but not advised for players with a handicap above 25. The online reviews are mainly good, with only a few comments about the condition of the course, and lots of praise for the friendly staff and good value round. Green fees are between 95 and 110€ including a buggy. Within the country club there is a restaurant with great terrace, tennis club and a proshop.
